My name is Sukie, but many of my friends call me Duo. I’m from China, and I’m so happy to share my story with you.
Three years ago, I lost my job during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, I felt lost, confused, and unsure about what to do next. So I returned to my hometown, a quiet and peaceful place where I could slow down and start thinking about my future.
Then, by chance, I met a friend who was very talented at handmade crafts. I started learning from her, and before long, I discovered something wonderful: I had fallen in love with creating things by hand.
Whenever inspiration came to me, I would make something new, record a tutorial video, and share it on social media in China. To my surprise and happiness, many people loved my creations and tutorials. Some even wanted to buy my handmade pieces, so I started a small online business.
Little by little, my hobby became my business, and many of my customers became familiar faces and friends. I am truly grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way.
A Small Card That Changed My Perspective
There is one experience I will never forget.
In the early days of my business, I met a customer who had been living and working in Beijing for many years. While communicating with her, I sensed that she might be going through a difficult time in her life.
I didn't know exactly what she was facing, and I didn't want to ask too many questions. I simply wanted to send her a little encouragement. So I wrote a small card and included it in her package.
I still remember the words I wrote:
“Even if the night devours everything, the sun will rise again.”
After sending the package, I gradually forgot about the card. Then, one day, I received a message from an unfamiliar number. It was from that customer.
She thanked me and told me that my little card had given her a reason to keep going. She had stuck it beside her bed and read it whenever she needed encouragement. She told me she was ready to start a new chapter in her life and keep fighting.
I was deeply moved. Tears filled my eyes, and I sat in my warehouse and cried.
Until that moment, I had thought I was simply running a small online business, making and selling handmade products. But her message helped me realize something much more meaningful:
What we send to the world doesn't have to be just a product. Sometimes, it can also be kindness, encouragement, inspiration, and love.
That experience changed the way I saw my work. I made a promise to myself: I want to be someone who spreads love through creativity, and I want to keep doing that for as long as I can.
Sharing Creativity With the World
That is why I decided to share my handmade creations with more people around the world.
I started creating videos on TikTok and YouTube, sharing tutorials about ribbon flowers, pipe cleaner flowers, beaded flowers, handmade jewelry, and many other DIY crafts.
I hope my tutorials can inspire you to try something new, discover your own creativity, and make something even more beautiful in your own way.
I also hope to connect with craft lovers everywhere. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced creator, I want DuoFashionDIY to be a place where you can find inspiration, explore new ideas, and enjoy the happiness of making things by hand.
And beyond sharing tutorials and handmade creations, I also hope to offer one-on-one guidance for friends who would like to learn flower-making techniques step by step.
More Than Handmade Crafts
Besides my handmade craft business, I also help connect customers with products from factories in my hometown.
These include clothing, silicone products, pet toys, and household items. The factories offer OEM services and customized designs. One of the silicone factories has more than 5,000 product models in stock.
After the pandemic, some factories faced serious business difficulties. I wanted to help them find new customers and business opportunities, so that their businesses could recover and their workers could continue to support their families.
I believe that even small efforts can make a difference. If I can help connect a factory with a new customer, support a worker's livelihood, or bring a little happiness to someone through a handmade creation, then my work has meaning.
